The American Red Cross has
provided health and safety services to the American public for almost a
century.
Health and Safety Services For nearly a
century, the American Red Cross has prepared people to save lives through health
and safety education and training. From first aid, CPR and bloodborne pathogens
training to swimming and lifeguarding, HIV/AIDS education and Babysitter's
Training, American Red Cross Preparedness programs help people lead safer and
healthier lives. The Red Cross constantly strives to respond to the preparedness
concerns of Americans at home, in school and in the workplace. Today's
innovative programs also include teaching lay persons and professionals how to
use automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to save victims of sudden cardiac
arrest. Last year, nearly 11 million people enrolled in American Red Cross
health and safety courses.

Difficult
Decisions: One of the most
stressful and emotional situations you can face is dealing with a
life-threatening condition when professional help is not readily available.
Acquire the knowledge and learn the skills needed to help in an emergency
situation; being prepared for a medical emergency can help you make
those difficult decisions and can help save
lives! Ongoing classes are offered
throughout the year – All classes will be held in the Chapter’s
classroom.
Ready to be trained? Learn
simple preparedness and lifesaving techniques for the skills and confidence to
help anyone in your home, your neighborhood and at work.
When a major disaster occurs, your community can change in
an instant. Loved ones can be hurt and emergency response delayed. Make sure
that at least one member of your household is trained in First Aid and CPR and
in how to use an Automated
External Defibrillator (AED).
These three
steps will help you to react in an emergency:
-
Check the scene for safety and the
victim for life-threatening conditions.
-
Call 9-1-1 or your local emergency
number and request professional assistance.
-
Care for the victim if you can
reach the person safely.
